The Canadian League of Composers, Continuum Contemporary Music, and the Canadian Music Centre are thrilled to announce the cohort of composers and performers for the 2026-27 PIVOT x HATCH mentorship program.

PIVOT x HATCH brings together early-career composers and performers as peers to develop new works with guidance from the Continuum core ensemble and composer mentors. Over the course of the season, participants will receive one-on-one lessons and take part in workshops, panels, and rehearsals culminating in a concert of new works.

The selected performer participants are:

Maggie Umanetz Lertprasopsak, flute

Ann Murdocca, clarinet

Veronica Zupanic, violin

Tomas Peña, cello

Linda Ruan, piano

Jonathan Huard, percussion

The selected composer participants are:

Jessica Ackerley

Luke Blackmore

Alexandra Gorlin-Crenshaw

Rio Houle

Louis-Michel Tougas

Each composer will write a new work for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, and percussion, guided by a mentor of their choosing. The performers will receive mentorship from members of Continuum’s core ensemble and premiere the five new works.

We are grateful to everyone who applied and we look forward to sharing updates about our ongoing work through this program over the coming season.

This program is generously funded by the Metcalf Foundation Booster Fund.
