The Canadian League of Composers and the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) Canadian Section is pleased to announce that Anna Pidgorna’s The Stockhausen Menagerie for flute and clarinet has been selected for inclusion at the 2026 World New Music Days in Romania.
In addition to Anna’s work, three more Canadian works were selected to be part of the festival:
Zosha Di Castri’s Sprung Testament for flute (or violin) and piano (submitted by Le Vivier)
Heather Hindman’s Seule for solo flute (individual submission)
James Hamilton Lowrie’s On Endless Hold for string quartet (individual submission)
The ISCM Canadian Section is thrilled that the Romanian Section has chosen to programme Anna’s work, which was highly regarded by this year’s Canadian Section jury.
The Canadian Section also extends its congratulations to the three other Canadian composers whose works have been selected by the international jury. The decision to include 2 additional Canadian works from individual submissions – from a total of only 11 individual submissions chosen overall – truly highlights the strength of Canadian music in an international context.
- Bekah Simms, President, ISCM Canadian Section
Congratulations to Anna, Heather, James, and Zosha!
