In late July, the CLC filed a pre-budget submission with the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance. The document urges the current government to permanently commit 1% of its overall spending to arts, culture, and heritage. More specifically, it suggests a $140 million increase to the Canada Council for the Arts, and a $190 million increase to the Department of Canadian Heritage. This is a position shared by the Canadian Arts Coalition and all of its members.
