The Canadian League of Composers (CLC) is committed to fighting for the interests of all composers and sound artists from across Canada, regardless of demographic, aesthetic, or professional / economic status. Our goal is to ensure that resources made available to the community – whether by the CLC itself, or by other organisations – are as accessible and equitable as possible.

The CLC acknowledges the inherent Eurocentricity and patriarchy embedded within the history of “classical” music in Canada, and understands that these systemic injustices continue to influence and govern the structures of Canada’s artistic institutions. Furthermore, we recognize that the demographic and aesthetic diversity of Canadian composers and sound artists remains at odds with our community’s distribution of resources and opportunities. Therefore, while our goal remains equal treatment for all, we endorse adopting policies that aim to increase the participation of underrepresented demographics in the Canadian new music scene.
